An in depth tutorial on juxtaposition and mergers with elements that I had never considered before. Also the "course notes" that Mark emails to the participants after the session are very much appreciated.

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Mark Tripp
With over 45 years of experience, I first started taking photos at the age of 14.
My first camera was a Pentax SLR K1000 then moving into a Canon AE1 SLR.
Purchased my first medium format camera in 1977, a Mamiya RB67 and then in 1978 this was when my photography business started. Primarily with weddings and portraits and then starting modelling, fashion, commercial and magazine photography.

I originally took up photography to showcase my art, signwriting, graphic designs and visual merchandising but requests started about doing portraits and weddings. I also started in photo / journalism building up to freelance for over 20 Australian magazines and several oversea publications as well. To name a few - Australian Street Machine, Australian Street Rodding, Australasian Post, Women 2019s Weekly, Trucking Life, Vogue, Vogue House and Garden, Studio Fashion, Conde Nast Publications, People, Performance Street Car plus many more. I also started selling my images through a stock library, Auschromes where I was successful in selling my images here in Australia and overseas. Never really been into entering competitions however one I did enter through a photography magazine, I came first in this world wide portrait competition.

I have also done a lot of modelling portfolios and hair images. I worked closely with several Tasmanian Modellling Agencies and hair salons. I was secretary / treasurer for The Australian Mannequin and Models Guild ( Tas Division ) for several years and helped co-ordinate The Mannequin and Photographic Model of the Year Awards. I was also successful in supplying award winning hair images for many hair stylists.

Went back to visual merchandising part time for a few years while still continuing my photography business. Then in 2002 I was hired at Southern Cross Television now 7 Tasmania - Southern Cross Austereo, as a commercial producer. With the rapidly changes in technology I now also am a videographer / editor while still doing a lot of commercial photography. I have developed skills in photoshop, Lightroom and many more appplications to evolve my art and photography. I also have a strong presence with online sites where I sell my art and photography. Also still continue to sell digital images through stock libraries. Started in August 2020 with The Launceston Photography Group to become one of their instructors for the Launceston, Tasmania area.

Mark Tripp is available for private bookings

Title or Location: Lotus ponds, Candidasa, Bali
The lotus ponds in Candidasa are about the size of a footy oval and directly opposite the town temple. Early in the morning you will be greeted by a sea of lotus flowers waiting to attract the local birds and insects. As you can see the white cheeked carpenter bee is a common resident. The image was captured with my go to kit of Fujifilm XT5 XF100-400 and as the sun was bright the settings were as you can imagine not challenging.

What a night! My first time seeing, and photographing the magical Aurora Australis, or Southern Light's. An experience I got to share with thousands, possibly millions of others, who also saw the stunning beauty. Naturally, it wasn't hard to get 'creative' for a local monthly photography challenge. Even better, I got to see the magical light show from my very own backyard!

Title or Location: Longford Blooms 2023
In 2023 I had the pleasure of capturing images from the Longford Blooms garden festival in Longford Tasmania.Having early access to the many gardens gave me time and space to wander at leisure without distractions. The included image was captured in one of the last gardens and the sun by this time was getting more intense and unworkable so excluding distracting light and sky was the priority. I work for 90 of the time with a 100-400 on a Fujifilm XT5 so it lets me work at a distance to most

Got to Wellington point and the tide was nice and low, the sun was blazing and about to set.I walked along the sand bar to try and get the right framing with the sun in the background as the surfers jumped out of the water. The photos looked quite bland out of the camera but once processed I was able to bring out some awesome colors from the sunset.

Visiting the John Bell Zoo for the first time while visiting my parents. Enjoyed the zoo so much I can back the very next day. The highlight of my visit was seeing the Lynx kits running and playing in their outdoor habitat. I spend half the day watching and photography of them. In the photo, you see one of the kits finally taking a moment to rest but at the same time sees the size of my camera - Fuji GFX100.
