The Car Park

The Car Park

Saturday 02 August
York St Car Park - 10am - 2 Hours
Mark Tripp
I love doing a left of field subject to get photographers thinking out of the box. This session is a different style of Street Photography with creating a story with in a high rise car park. We will creat motion blur, close ups, reflections, street landscapes and so much more which will be all contained from our location in a car park. These sessions are very creative and unique and most photographers would think Why do I want to go to a car park to take images??? but like previous similar themed sessions, you will be amazed of what you can create and your images will be completely different rather than just going to iconic places all the time. Come on, get out of you comfort zone and join in on the over the top creative session.

As a beginner photographer, I found the way Mark simplified the information that he presented really helped me to understand things in a way that I couldn't have worked out for myself. I have a long way to go, but now I can take what I have learnt & practice!

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Mark Tripp
With over 45 years of experience, I first started taking photos at the age of 14.
My first camera was a Pentax SLR K1000 then moving into a Canon AE1 SLR.
Purchased my first medium format camera in 1977, a Mamiya RB67 and then in 1978 this was when my photography business started. Primarily with weddings and portraits and then starting modelling, fashion, commercial and magazine photography.

I originally took up photography to showcase my art, signwriting, graphic designs and visual merchandising but requests started about doing portraits and weddings. I also started in photo / journalism building up to freelance for over 20 Australian magazines and several oversea publications as well. To name a few - Australian Street Machine, Australian Street Rodding, Australasian Post, Women 2019s Weekly, Trucking Life, Vogue, Vogue House and Garden, Studio Fashion, Conde Nast Publications, People, Performance Street Car plus many more. I also started selling my images through a stock library, Auschromes where I was successful in selling my images here in Australia and overseas. Never really been into entering competitions however one I did enter through a photography magazine, I came first in this world wide portrait competition.

I have also done a lot of modelling portfolios and hair images. I worked closely with several Tasmanian Modellling Agencies and hair salons. I was secretary / treasurer for The Australian Mannequin and Models Guild ( Tas Division ) for several years and helped co-ordinate The Mannequin and Photographic Model of the Year Awards. I was also successful in supplying award winning hair images for many hair stylists.

Went back to visual merchandising part time for a few years while still continuing my photography business. Then in 2002 I was hired at Southern Cross Television now 7 Tasmania - Southern Cross Austereo, as a commercial producer. With the rapidly changes in technology I now also am a videographer / editor while still doing a lot of commercial photography. I have developed skills in photoshop, Lightroom and many more appplications to evolve my art and photography. I also have a strong presence with online sites where I sell my art and photography. Also still continue to sell digital images through stock libraries. Started in August 2020 with The Launceston Photography Group to become one of their instructors for the Launceston, Tasmania area.

The Milkyway and Aurora Australis together as buddies. So happy when I reviewed the photo on the back of the camera to have captured this to Icons of the sky together in the same shot.Taken on a night away camping at Cosy Corner in the Bay of Fires area Tasmania, Australia on the 1st May 2025. There was a predicted Aurora Australis, so I went to the beach in expectation and when I got there about 09:30 pm, this was the first shot I took, it looked great in the back of camera. I met young Miles at Ellis Square while he was doing some rather gymnastic break dancing. Luckily, for me, I was using my Nikon Z7 which allowed me to switch from raw to jpeg giving me 9 frames per second on motor drive. I was shooting aperture preferred and used f/8 the resulting shutter speed was 1/1600 of a second. 9fps sounds fast but I only had 6 nicely composed shots out of 120 exposures.

I had spent the better part of the day moving silently through the edges of the chase looking to photograph deer. It was one of those days that seemed perfect on paper: overcast skies that softened the light, barely a breath of wind, and a camera battery at full charge. But nature is nothing if not humbling. The deer remained ghost-like, unseen despite hours of quiet patience and soft steps.By late afternoon my hopes had dimmed so I began the slow walk back to the car. The path wound through

Engine 9350 is a Diesel/Electric Locomotive which was built in February 2012 by General Electric and produces 4400HP which is capable to propel it to a top speed of 75mph.
